Sofas

Over the years sofas have been called many things such as couches, chesterfields, settees, davenports and the list goes on and on. A smaller version of a sofa is called a love seat. Then there is a fold out sofa and a futon that can be used for your guest to sleep on. The sofa goes back over many years and is the most enjoyed piece of furniture in your home. There are many ways to decorate with a sofa. For example if you have an antique sofa, you can purchase accessories that could make your home look spectacular. You can also decorate in the Roman style fashion using accessories to bring your theme to life. Your home can be as elegant as you want and it can all be based on the sofa that you use.

Until the 20th century the name couch referred to a long upholstered seat with one end being fitted so that you could recline and rest your head. In the late Middle Ages, it was referred to as a daybed and it was not until the industrial era that these became common in every home as in homes today where having a sofa is a must in furniture.

Over the years couches have been associated with psychologists, although not all of them have their patients lay down on a couch for a session. It is believed that lying down on a couch makes it much easier for the patient to relate their feelings when reclined and in a state of relaxation and helps them open up and speak more freely.

Whatever the need for a couch in your home is, it seems that it is one piece of furniture that can’t be done without. The family gathers after the evening meal to watch TV. The man of the house relaxes after feeling home from a hard day at work and if you are not feeling well there is nothing that will give you the comfort like a couch can.
